What a washout this month has been so far! Snow, hail, rain, thunder, lightening – yesterday and today, I’ve had washing out for twenty minutes only to have to whip it in as the heavens open.
Fortunately, we now have the wood burning stove installed and, thanks to my Dad’s obsession with finding us wood for it, it’s been burning up throughout the stormy and blustery weather of this weekend.
You know, I’ve never been a huge fan of April. I should be – it’s mine and my dad’s birthday next Friday, we usually have two weeks off for Easter holidays, Easter (chocolate) and normally some kind of trip away. Yet it’s usually awful weather. I’m sure I’ve mentioned previously about camping amidst snow over the Easter weekend… and it seems so far away until the Summer time when there’ll be some actual warmth and sunshine.
I’m a whingebag! Again, not sure why I’m complaining. I’m sitting in front of a roaring fire, waiting for some trashy TV to begin, house to myself and some ice-cream in the freezer. Maybe I shouldn’t have looked up these vintage and retro illustrations of April Showers afterall.
That picture by Coby Whitmore is one of my absolute favourites. I love the composition and the colours. I think I found it on Leif Peng’s flickr set, but it was quite a while ago so I could be wrong. I’ll post the link here anyway, just in case. Always worth a trawl through anyway.
Ironically, the sky has cleared as I’ve been looking through these pictures! Maybe this will work in future; perhaps all I need to do is to post pictures of the exact opposite of what I want the weather to be like…
