Who needs antiques shops and fairs when you live in Glossop? Yesterday, we wandered around Chorlton before heading back to Glossop for a little whizz around the charity shops. Not a sausage dog was to be found anywhere. However, we spotted that the Glossop indoor market was still open so went to have a look. Lo and behold, on one of the stalls outside, we saw this:
How’s that for an unusual Italian vase? It doesn’t look like any others I’ve ever seen. The stall holder was a slightly odd man; I couldn’t really understand what he was saying, other than he told me twice that everything on the table top was a pound. Then tried to sell me some Taiwanese cheapo tat, also for a pound: “It’s even nicer, this one.” No, it’s really not, trust me on this.
This has inspired me to go and have an Ebay search for Italian pottery… wish me luck!
Did you find anything about the italian pot? I have a pot that looks like a small flower pot with a handle. it has italy on the bottom (marked just like yours) and 5106. looks 1950’s. Intrigued X
I never did unfortunately. Many of the italian things I find are more difficult to identify. I’m sure as I get a few more pieces, I’ll get to know some more but still not as easy to find as the German pieces. Emma 🙂
