Big Pot, Little Pot

I’m not going to ask why, but Aidan is finally coming round to the beauty of ’50s pottery. Not so long ago, he proclaimed,

“I just can’t see what you like about it…”

Now, these are two of his favourites:

I love the huge one but I’m not too keen on the small, pink one. The big grey pot was bought from the most sour-faced woman in the world! She pretty much harrumphed the price to us and looked like we’d slapped her in the face when we said we’d take it. Admittedly, it was in our (very) broken, poor German; perhaps she thought we were taking the mick? Who knows.

Humongous grey is Scheurich 270-50. It’s teeny-tiny-tidgy pink pal is 271-22.

I love 50s pottery and have far too little of it. That big one’s a stunner. I actually have a vase with the same colour and decor as the small pink Scheurich but in a different shape.

  I have the same little pink vase… I once saw it ironically referred as “the putenwurst dekor”, or something like that… looks infact a bit like mashed wurstel. yuuuuk…
  I saw a big one similar to yours today, but it had a big chip 😦
  (by the way, sorry I am such a bad commenter, actually I really enjoy reading your blog and I envy that you have a boyfriend who knows about WGP, eheh… mine is not really into it, but last weekend I brought him with me to a flohmarkt and it was so funny to see him looking on the bottom of a vase and then asking “is this a Scheurich?” too bad I didn’t catch a picture of that glorious moment 😀

    That’s hilarious! Get the camera ready for the next time and you might just catch him! What does ‘putenwurst’ mean?? My German isn’t very good! I love any comments, so don’t worry about them being sporadic 🙂 Emma

THE LARGE POT IS RATHER SCARY!! WE HAVE YET TO DEVELOP A TASTE FOR 50’S PIECES AS YET, BUT WE DON’T SEE MANY SO MAY DO YET….. MORE PICS ON FLICKR SEE WHAT YOU THINK..
