We don’t just bring West German pottery back from Germany: an increasingly larger proportion of the goodies brought back are of a different retro variety. These gorgeous fabrics were found in a huge market hall that is a brilliant treasure trove with one major downfall: it stinks! I honestly don’t know how the sellers stand it. Everyone smokes like a trooper. There’s a grey haze hanging about the ceiling. It’s a shame it’s such an unpleasant place because it really does have some gems hiding.
That material is quite nice, but just look at this:
Beautiful, beautiful stuff.
I wish I was halfway decent with my sewing machine – then I could attempt to make some curtains out of this. There’s certainly enough to make a decent pair and they’d look fantastic! Still in two minds whether to sell it or not. If I don’t, then I suppose I could see about getting it made into curtains – perhaps for our bedroom? Actually, now that I’ve thought of that, I think that’s what I’ll do. Don’t tell Aidan…
Hi,
Wheres was this place in germany.
I am going on a fabric hunt in Berlin in a couple of weeks .
If you have any nice addresses 🙂
Kind Regards,
Petra
Would you believe it if I said I can’t remember?! It’s not from around the Berlin area, from some kind of flea market around the Ruhr, but we’ve been to that many, I honestly can’t remember which one! It was just buried beneath a load of rubbish stuff. Good luck for your hunting! Emma 🙂
