Carstens ‘Ankara’ Pottery

on

One of my favourite pots from previous trips is my black Carstens Ankara. I was thrilled to find another one on the last trip in a different form:

Carstens 1520-25

And with the original find:

With the 698-23

I love the bright, turquoise glaze inside.

The Ankara glaze seems quite fragile on these vases. We’ve got a couple of the blue and black ones and there are a couple of nibbles out of some.

It is a gorgeous glaze though:

Bumper to bumper...

This is a collection I’m definitely keeping!

Unfortunately, I’ve got up at an ungodly hour today to do some work on my Masters course. I’ve got to give a presentation in a couple of weeks’ time about a planned scheme of work that is ‘Creative’. I haven’t yet planned this scheme of work… Hmmm. Ideas, ideas… anyone got any?

They are pretty good. I’m after one in red now – not seen one yet in real life.

Wow, those are gorgeous. I had no idea the Ankara ones came in black. I wouldn’t sell those either!
